About Us
The primary purpose of the Brevard Genealogical Society is education.
We provide educational opportunities to the membership and the public through training courses, workshops, and seminars on methods and standards of genealogical and historical research.
We try to stimulate interest in, and encourage the recording of, family history, especially among young people.
We encourage the collection of genealogical and historical books and other materials by the Society, through donation and purchase, so they may be properly cataloged, cared for, and made available for all to use.
We exchange information through publications, group activities, or on a one-to-one basis.
We try to reduce duplication of research, publication, and library materials by individuals and societies.
And we maintain close liaison with other genealogical and historical organizations, local, nationwide and international, to reinforce our efforts toward common goals, and to avoid schedule conflicts.
