February 10, 2020: Researching Hidden Ancestors

Karen Yvonne Hamilton has spent the past 30 years researching her family history. In 2019 she published 'Lostmans Heritage', the story of her ancestors who pioneered the last Florida frontier, the Florida Everglades. It is a journal chronicling the author’s journey through research, interviews, field trips, and all the frustrations and triumphs that go with historical and genealogical research. Her presentation will concentrate on sharing her experiences in researching slave ancestors and tracking down ancestors who who were hidden away at Lostmans River in the Everglades.
